Glass Technology

Three Glass Configurations

Every EZZO skylight is available in three distinct glass builds, each addressing different performance priorities for Singapore's tropical climate.

Standard Insulated

5mm + 27Ar + 5mm

Two panes of tempered glass separated by a 27 mm argon-filled cavity. Argon's lower thermal conductivity reduces conductive heat transfer through the IGU and, with an appropriate LOW-E coating, helps limit solar heat gain. A practical balance of clarity, cost and thermal performance for residential skylight applications, subject to orientation and consultant specification.

Laminated Safety

5/6mm + 0.76/1.52pvb + 5/6mm

A PVB (polyvinyl butyral) interlayer bonds two glass panes together. On impact, the glass cracks but the interlayer holds fragments in place — critical for overhead glazing. Thicker 1.52mm PVB and 6mm glass (SR-S110, SR-S85 Trackless) gives greater robustness; thinner 0.76mm PVB on top-hung models.

Triple Acoustic

Three-layer system combining insulating argon cavity with a laminated inner pane. Delivers both thermal performance and acoustic dampening — reducing tropical rain noise on the roof and traffic sound from nearby roads. The 22Ar cavity on top-hung and sliding skylights provides maximum performance; the SR-S85 Railed uses a 9Ar cavity for its slimmer profile.
